New cycling blog

I’ve launched a new cycling blog at http://www.atomicecho.com/cycling/ which will be my new project for the year, or at least until the Etape comes round again next year.

The idea is to write about all aspects of my cycling life, not just the one event. Mostly I’ve been writing about racing, or my attempts at it, but it will include kit reviews and advice eventually. Please check it out and try clicking on any ads that take your fancy as I’m also using it to see what sort of ad revenue I can get from a blog type site.

Moving host

I’ve moved my hosting service from freezone to servage.net who so far have been excellent in the package the offer and in their support service.

On the list of things to do are:

– An update on various bits of code and parts of the site

– Sort out EchoSound Location’s myspace materials

– Start on getting sponsorship for the Etape site and for my ride

– Get a few paying clients or a new job

Blogger issues

I’m suffering the dreaded “001 java.net. ConnectException: ” problem. I’m checking with my ISP as to whether it’s them or blogger. Which means a hiatus in my publishing which has been getting going again with the Etape blog.

Etape blog launched

As part of my mission for this year to ride the Etape Du Tour for a charity called Get Kids Going! I’ve decided to write about the preparation and the experience. It’s a way of promoting what I am doing and somewhere to direct people to read about it. It’s also a sort of hub for my fundraising activities. I plan to raise at least 1500 GBP for the charity.

To find out more about the challenge I have set myself and how to sponsor me go to: www.atomicecho.com/etape. You might even like to read the blog too.

At the moment the page is using one of the standard templates available from blogger.com but once I get an afternoon free I plan to modify this to a custom one with my own design and style sheet.

Finally!

Version 3 is up and running. A few bits still need filling in with the crayons but the new site has finally pestered me into almost finishing it.

Yes, it is a bit minimal and looks a bit like many blog sites, but that’s what I wanted. There will be singing and dancing bits but the idea is to keep it simple and manageable. Yes, there are also some glaring omissions on the site which I will deal with when I have a moment.

I hope you like.
